Our services
We advise and assist individuals and partnerships and help them
to evaluate the various options available to them, including refinancing,
raising additional capital or, if appropriate, can deal with sequestration
or a protected trust deed.
We advise and assist companies on a whole range of issues including
debt collection, financial restructuring, business turnaround and,
if necessary we can explain the formal insolvency processes available,
including administration, receivership and liquidation. Wherever

Ian Wright
A licensed insolvency
practitioner and member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in
Scotland, Ian has over 14 years experience of working with financially
troubled businesses and individuals, gained in both England and
Scotland.
Prior to joining the profession, Ian was with The Royal Bank of
Scotland plc for almost eight years, the last two years of which
were spent in the Law Department, where Ian specialised in Debt
Recovery. In April 1991, Ian joined Buchler Phillips Gray to specialise
in Business Recovery and Insolvency and moved on to HLB Kidsons
in October 1994. During his time at Kidsons, Ian was involved in
a large number of corporate insolvency appointments, concentrating
mainly on Receiverships, and was also based at the firms Hove
office for a period of nine months.
Ian joined Haines Watts as a Senior Manager in Edinburgh in July
2000 and moved to the Glasgow office in August 2001 when he took
day to day control of the Glasgow office. Ian was assumed as a partner
in October 2002 and is currently Partner in charge of both the Glasgow
office and Aberdeen office of Haines Watts.
Over the last
few years, Ian has developed a reputation for a no nonsense
and can do approach. He has a track record of achieving business
rescues, with recent successful assignments including Urethane Solutions
Limited (automotive parts), Farries Limited (library supplies),
Dr Jives Limited (clothing retailer), and Gordon J Beattie Limited
(building contractor).
In addition, Ian is one of Scotlands leading insolvency practitioners
who deals with consumer debt. Ian currently acts as Trustee for
in excess of 1,400 individuals who are subject to a Protected
Trust Deed, an alternative to formal Sequestration which allows
individuals with financial difficulties to regulate their finances,
and agree a suitable compromise with their creditors.
Ian has significant
experience in the construction industry, transport sector, manufacturing,
IT and Hotel/Leisure sectors.
