Alastair McSporran has been appointed as the new Senior Procurator Fiscal Depute for Campbeltown. 

McSporran will have local responsibility for the investigation and prosecution of crime and the investigation of sudden, suspicious and unexplained deaths.

"Having been born and raised in the area, Campbeltown has always been close to my heart," McSporran said.

"For a number of years it has been an ambition of mine to play a leading role in the prosecution service in the Campbeltown area and I am pleased to return and serve the community. I know the area and the people well and I plan to build on existing relationships and also forge new ones to ensure that I can play an integral part in the delivery of a professional, responsive prosecution service in the Campbeltown area."
