Helen Archibald, director of HR at Thorntons Solicitors, has been shortlisted in the HR Director of the Year category at the HR Network Scotland Awards national awards to be announced at the Hilton Glasgow on the 20th November.

Helen joined Thorntons in 2004 and has been instrumental in the establishment and development of the firm's employee engagement programme, The Thorntons' Way. She is also the first non-partner to be invited to join Thorntons' Chairman's Committee, the firm's strategy committee, which has only four invited members.

The HR Network Scotland awards were introduced in 2007, designed to recognise achievements from the graduate level to outstanding contribution to Scottish HR.

"Helen's efforts have been wholeheartedly invested into the development of policies and procedures at Thorntons, and demonstrated through chairing various groups, leading activities firm-wide, advising and offering coaching to managers and
other key staff," said Jack Robertson, chairman of Thorntons.
