Oliver Adair, Convener of the Society's legal aid committee, has offered faint praise for today's announcement on legal aid thresholds, which will increase to £25,000 in civil actions. He called for clarification of the detail of the proposals announced by Justice Minster Kenny MacAskill.
"The Law Society of Scotland supports any initiative which extends access to justice," he said.
"However, we would like to see more details of the financial elegibility, in particular the contributions levels people will have to pay, to evaluate how the changes outlined in today's announcement will help more people access legal aid."
