A police farce – hounding stripper leaves taxpayer with £170,000 bill - The Scotsman
STRIPPING off his fake police uniform in front of cheering women seemed like a good way to pay Stuart Kennedy's university costs.  The 25-year-old has repeatedly fallen foul of the law for impersonating a police officer, and last week saw the latest case against him collapse in court after prosecutors reviewed the evidence. There is now growing anger over the estimated £170,000 spent in police, prosecution and court costs in a case that has not resulted in a single conviction.

Murder hunt as victim shot in head dies - The Herald
Detectives yesterday launched a murder inquiry after a man who was shot in the head in the early hours of Saturday morning died. The 26-year-old, of Hazelwood Grove in the Inch area of Edinburgh, was said by police to have "succumbed to his injuries" at the Western General Hospital overnight.

THE vile lags who gave Neil Lennon’s brutal attackers a heroes’ welcome in jail had a sickening whipround — to “reward” the thugs with special treats for battering the Celtic hero. Rangers-supporting cons cheered and clapped as David Whitelaw, 47, and Jeffrey Carrigan, 43, arrived at Glasgow’s Barlinnie nick on Friday to start two-year sentences.

Jail for downloading 'extreme' sex images  - The Scotsman
Downloading images of rape and possessing other forms of "extreme" pornography will be punishable by up to three years in prison under new laws to be unveiled next month, The Scotsman can reveal. Kenny MacAskill, the justice secretary, has for the first time revealed details of his proposed crackdown on owning hardcore pornography that he claims is sexually and physically abusive and degrading to women.

A vicious torturer is working as a licensed bouncer in Scotland. Bodybuilder Rusmir Rakovac, who calls himself the "Mad Bosnian", took part in a horrific attack on a teenager. The bound and gagged victim was shot repeatedly with an air pistol, threatened with a knife, stripped and thrown into a cold shower.
