Sheridan trial postponed for three months

The Supreme Courts have advised today that the preliminary hearing in the Tommy and Gail Sheridan perjury trial originally scheduled for later this month has been postponed for three months.

"The Preliminary Hearing due to take place on the 26th February at the High Court in Edinburgh in the above case has now been postponed, following a joint application under Section 75A of the Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1995," the Court said in a statement.

Such an application for postponement can be made by either party and granted at the Court's discretion.  It is not known why both parties applied for the postponement.

The rescheduled all day Preliminary Hearing will now to take place at the High Court in Edinburgh on 11 May.
