Burness is hosting a free lunchtime seminar on 25th March 2009 at its Glasgow office on 120 Bothwell Street entitled "Legionella: Are you managing the risks?", to outline the legislative framework and steps required to comply with legal obligations for all employers who operate premises with any type of water system.
"The new Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 and the Health and Safety Offences and Penalties Act 2008 have increase penalties on employers found to have failed in their obligations to safeguard their employees’ health," the firm said in a statement announcing the event.
"This seminar aims to improve delegates’ technical knowledge of the bacteria, the risks it poses and more importantly how to manage those risks."
Speakers include the firm's Colin Hulme, partner and commercial litigator, Diane Turner, associate at the firm and former procurator fiscal depute, and Ian Richards, managing director of Sayvol Chemicals.
