After 392 years, first female appointed as Keeper of the Registers of Scotland
Current Managing Director of Registers of Scotland, Sheenagh Adams, has been named as the new Keeper of the Registers. She is the first woman in post since the role was created in 1617.
She will replace James Meldrum on 1 July.
Adams joined the Registers in 2006. Formerly, she worked for 11 years in local government and the voluntary sector. Her civil service career has included posts in housing, rural affairs, the natural and built heritage, and the voluntary sector.
Sheenagh has an MA (Hons) in Mediaeval History from St Andrews University and a Diploma in Housing Studies from Glasgow University.
