David McClements, a partner at Russel & Aitken, has been appointed as treasurer of The Law Society for a three year term, replacing incumbent Jamie Millar.

He immediately pledged to address the thorny issue of the practising certificate fee debated recently at the Society AGM.

“These are tough economic times, and I’m looking forward to taking on the challenge," he said.

"One of the major issues I’ll be dealing with is subscriptions - agreeing an acceptable level of fees for our members and ensuring the continued success for the future of The Society.”
