No charges after C.Diff. outbreak

The Crown Office have confirmed that no charges will be brought against anyone at Vale of Leven hospital following the outbreak of the clostridium difficile virus in 2008 in which 18 people died.

The Crown Office did not state whether the decision has been taken by the Lord Advocate Elish Angiolini, who instructed the case to be looked at by the area Procurator Fiscal, confirming only that "Crown Counsel have instructed that there should be no criminal proceedings".

The families of those directly affected by the outbreak have already been informed.
