Binyam Mohamed, the British resident who was kidnapped and tortured by the CIA is to sue Jeppesen UK Ltd, a company he claims were complicit in his torture.
Mohamed spent nearly seven years in custody, four of them at the notorious US Guantanamo Bay camp in Cuba. He was subjected to 'medieval' torture, including the slicing of his genitals with a scalpel.
Prestwick airport was identified in a European Parliament investigation as handling torture flights for the CIA. One of the aircraft, a Gulfstream jet owned by a CIA front company was identified using Prestwick airport on numerous occasions. Binyam Mohamed's legal team claim to have evidence linking Jeppesen with the organisation of rendition flights. The case will now go before an English High Court on July 23.
According to Mohamed's lawyers, Jeppesen UK prepared flight plans, obtained the necessary permits, paid passenger fees for the crew and made arrangements for the ground transportation, catering and hotel accommodation of the crew for the torture flights.
Prestwick Airport's slogan is "Pure dead brilliant."
Jeppesen declined to comment on the case.
