Ex-trainee Lothian takes over from Stimpson at Anderson Strathern

Former trainee Andrew Lothian has been elected managing partner at Anderson Strathern LLP, replacing Robin Stimpson who has held the post sine 1996.

Lothian is currently a partner in the firm’s dispute resolution department. He joined the firm as trainee in 1996.

“I am very proud and honoured to be given the opportunity to serve as the Managing Partner of Anderson Strathern. It is an immense privilege," he said.

"This is a fantastic firm with brilliant lawyers and great clients. While, like all law firms, we currently face many challenges and operate in an increasingly competitive and uncertain environment, we have robust foundations and a creative approach to finding solutions. As Managing Partner I will have a specific role in ensuring client satisfaction, strong results, and that Anderson Strathern continues to successfully tackle the challenges that face us.

Robert Carr, Chairman of Anderson Strathern, said: “I am delighted at this appointment, particularly as Andy is ‘one of our own’, rising from trainee to Managing Partner in only 13 years. That is testament to his skill and diligence and the culture within the firm.

“Andy is a highly respected lawyer, as well as a dynamic and creative manager. I look forward to working with him in growing the firm over the coming years.”
