Firm columnist and principal of the Govan and Govanhill Law Centres Mike Dailly has been appointed to the Financial Services Consumer Panel, and will assist in advising the FSA on the interests and concerns of consumers.
Dailly has long championed the nrights of the individual and warned against the commodification of justice as a "consumer" product. He also acted as the solicitor to the UK unfair bank charges campaign.
"The Consumer Panel has an extremely valuable role to play in ensuring the FSA takes the consumer interest into account in its work. We are very pleased that, as these latest appointments demonstrate, the Panel can call on an extensive range of expertise," said FSA chairman, Adair Turner.
The panel was established by the FSA in 1998.
Dailly is also a member of the Secretary of State for Scotland’s Poverty Advisory Group, Legal Advisor to the UK Sustainable Home Ownership Partnership, and a Member of the Child Poverty Action Group in Scotland’s Advisory Panel. The Govan Law Centre won the prestigious Chairman's award at the 2009 Law Awards of Scotland.
