WS Connections networking event in Glasgow

WS Connections, the inter-disciplinary networking group for young professionals, is hosting its next event on Thursday 19 November in the Slouch Bar at Glasgow's Corinthian.

The group, who will feature in a forthcoming edition of The Firm magazine, aim to provide and encourage opportunities for young professionals to develop networking skills without the pressure of delivering outcomes early in their career.

"We are hoping to create a relaxed and informal atmosphere in which young professionals can grasp an opportunity (which may seldom arise otherwise) to put networking in to practice themselves, rather than simply watching more senior colleagues at work...without any fear of doing it 'wrong,' the committee told us.

"The idea is that you meet people in the same boat as you in other professions and industries so that you can build a bank of contacts. For those starting out, it will help provide a support network. In banking for example, it is always handy having a friendly neighbourhood solicitor or accountant in your contacts book to bounce queries off. Ultimately, when you are at the stage in your career where you are actively generating business, you have a good platform to work from and have built relationships over time. People do business with people after all.

"I guess we are looking to create the right conditions, encourage people to try something new and see what happens from there."

Guest speaker Andy Fell will give a short talk on goal setting, and there will be a competition and the chance to win a bottle of champagne!
