"Pragmatic approach" to parking tickets - but only outside the Balmoral Hotel
City of Edinburgh Council has confirmed that city parking wardens are instructed not to apply parking tickets outside the city's Balmoral Hotel.
The city - famed for its draconian ticketing regime- has not provided an explanation for offering preferential treatment to visitors to the hotel.
"Parking restrictions in front of the Balmoral Hotel remain enforceable. But we have agreed to take a pragmatic approach to enforcement and work in partnership with the hotel concierges in an effort to better manage the area and facilitate the arrival and departure of hotel guests," the council said.
No explanation has been provided as to why the "pragmatic" approach has not been adopted citywide.
