The Scottish Law Agents Society, fiercely vocal in their concensn over the proposed ABS regime, have confirmed that they will requisition a Special General Meeting of the Law Society to canvass the views of the profession on the issue of the external ownership of law practices.
They said that "there was absolutely no option but to requisition the Law Society to convene a Special General Meeting at the earliest date available."
"A requisition has now been prepared and shall be transmitted to the Law Society within the next few days," they said.
"All members of the Scottish Law Agents Society and all members of the wider profesison are urged to consider attending the SGM which is likely to take place late in March 2010. Those members who do not wish to attend in person are invited to download and print out the documents available on the buttons below this article with a view to studying the relevant issues and, if supportive of the SLAS motion, to sign and send the proxy to the Secretary. Members who find themselves opposed to the SLAS motion are invited to submit their reasons for consideration and for addition to the debate."
