Play to explore Lockerbie investigations

Playwright David Benson will premiere a play he has written chronicling Doctor Jim Swire's researches into the cause of the Pan Am 103 airliner crash over Lockerbie in 1988.

"Lockerbie - unfinished business" will be performed at this year's Edinburgh Fringe.

"I've had an interest in Lockerbie for some time and came across the website Jim and Peter [Biddulph] have set up to try to get their manuscript for the book published, and contacted them through it," he said.

"Peter had already been looking at getting some kind of play off the ground, but it's now a one-man show, which is really about Jim's dogged pursuit of truth and justice since 1988, and where that has taken him."

Swire's website can be viewed here. The Firm's 2007 investigation into the cause of the crash can be read here.

Both former US Secretary of State Madeline Albright and former transport Secretary Malcolm Rifkind referred to the Pan Am 103 event as an accident on the record.
