The cuts were severely criticised when The Firm broke the news that the currently funded postgraduate diploma places would be replaced with loans, a position the Scottish Government originally denied.
A Freedom of Information request has revealed that the Law Society of Scotland and the Scottish Government have met on only a single occasion in the wake of the decision, on 7 October 2011.
The FOI response said it was a "courtesy meeting to inform the Law Society of the closure of the postgraduate allowances scheme.
"As the meeting was informal no minutes were taken."
The response says there have been no further meetings between the Law Society and education minister or civil service since then.
At the time the cuts were later revealed, two weeks after The Firm's report, The Law Society issued a statement announcing that it would be looking for more information from the Government about the funding changes.
"We are concerned that the removal of 300 specifically funded places, combined with the changes to the loan system, will prevent students from progressing their ambition to become a solicitor because they are reluctant to take on further debt or are unable to fund their studies," director of education Liz Campbell said at the time.
