Justice Committee abandons investigation into Esto Law
The convener of the Justice Committee at the Scottish Parliament has confirmed that it is to drop its proposed investigation into the Esto Law venture, pending the outcome of the Society's own review.
In a letter to Society President Cameron Ritchie written on Thursday, convener Christine Grahame said that the committee had been considering an investigation following a request from a number of past Presidents of the Glasgow Bar Association.
The Justice Committee advised Mr Ritchie that it had agreed not to hold an inquiry on the issue "on the basis that your review is already underway".
The next day, the Law Society's review was published, finding no fault with the Esto directors or the Law Society's legal aid negotiating team.
Committee Convener Christine Grahame asked Mr Ritchie to update the committee on the outcome of the Society's review "in due course."
