Later this month the Scottish Executive’s chief planner, Jim MacKinnon, will take to the stage to discuss the government’s New Planning Bill with leading journalist Alf Young of The Sunday Herald. The session will take place as a plenary session as part of the Scottish Design Show, which is being held on 6th and 7th of October at The Tramway in Glasgow. The Scottish Design Show is being supported by the Scottish Executive and aims to bring together politicians, academics, public agencies, the private sector and other professionals to discuss and debate the development of Scotland’s rural and urban landscape. The Scottish Executive will be using the event to launch a pilot for a new project that involves illustrating some of Scotland’s major future developments. Part of the project will involve a visualisation of how Scotland could look in the year 2020 according to Sue Stirling, principal planner at the Development Department of the Scottish Executive and one of the mapping project’s creators.
