DLA Piper Scotland creates UK\'s biggest furniture group
DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary Scotland LLP (DLA Piper) has been the lead advisor on a deal that has created the largest furniture manufacturer in the UK. The Edinburgh and Glasgow law firm has acted for Morris Furniture on its multimillion pound acquisition of Homestyle Kitchens & Bathrooms. The deal means the Glasgow firm is now the largest furniture manufacturer in the UK with a turnover of over £75m and more than 1,000 employees. All Homestyle staff will be transferring from Cumbernauld to Morris’s 700,000 sq ft facility in Glasgow. Alan Love, Homestyle managing director will take on the role of head of the new division. DLA Piper provided extensive expertise across corporate, HR and real estate law. Corporate partner Paul Pignatelli led DLA Piper’s team. He commented: “This deal is good for Scotland. It brings together two very strong, complementary companies and promises to build the combined operation to even greater heights.”
