Questionnaires for the first round of the research process for this year’s Law Awards of Scotland will be hitting the desks of more than 9,000 lawyers and business directors next week. In addition to the legal profession being polled, more than 2,500 company directors across Scotland and covering a wide range of SMEs and large corporations will also give their opinions on the services offered by Scottish legal firms. Members of the Faculty of Advocates will also have the opportunity to put their opinions forward on who are the best lawyers and law firms in the first round of the research process. Everyone that responds to the postal questionnaire will be out into a prize draw for the opportunity to win a stay at the exclusive De Vere Cameron House Hotel on the banks of Loch Lomond or alternatively an iPod Nano, the must have gadget for this year. Leading market research company MRUK will do follow-up telephone interviews with a selected sample of company directors to guarantee that a wide range of opinion is canvassed in the first important stage. Stage two will involve those firms and individuals that have come out top being invited to submit reports that will be scrutinised by our specially selected judging panel in June. This year’s judging process is split across two stages to ensure that the process can be independent and we believe that this will also allow some of the smaller law firms that cannot commit the resources to outing together intricate awards entries to be recognised for the high quality work that they do for their clients.” The Law Awards of Scotland will take place on the evening of Thursday 14th September at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow.
