McClure Naismith moves into new London home next week

McClure Naismith is on the move in London and will formally open its new London office in King William Street close to London Bridge on Monday (13th March).
The new custom built office more than doubles the size of the current London practice and will provide for further expansion of the business. The new London office opens 15 years after McClure Naismith became one of the first Scottish commercial law firms to establish a London presence.
The opening of the new London office is also marked by news that McClure Naismith is seeking additional staff across all levels of the business to service current and forecast growth in the business.
Currently the firm’s London office has four partners, 11 lawyers and fee earners plus seven support staff.
“15 years ago it was considered adventurous for a Scots’ law firm to open an office in London – now it is fairly commonplace for the larger practices,” said Robin Shannan, partner in charge of the London office. “In 1991, we saw the London legal market as a great opportunity to expand as well as a way of enhancing our services to clients. The London market is an exciting one and also a challenging one. With the support of the whole Firm the business generated by our London office has grown and we are now considered a well respected player in the London legal community”
“As is the case with the firm as a whole, the team in London is growing and we are investing in further recruitment,” added Robin Shannan.
“The firm has announced the appointment of six new partners in as many months, including Ashok Ghosh in London, a specialist in Projects and PPP work. The partner appointments alone will generate significant new work across all our offices, including London, and we anticipate further strong growth during 2006, for which we will require new lawyers and support staff.”
In January McClure Naismith announced the hire of the entire Edinburgh commercial property and social housing unit at Ledingham Chalmers, a team of seven, currently led by Partners, Philip Sim and Derek Hog, who will be joining the Firm in April.
The continued growth of McClure Naismith is further demonstrated by the fact that in May it will move its Edinburgh operations into a new purpose-built 16,000+ sq ft office in Edinburgh.
