Maclay Murray & Spens is to lose two senior partners from its Edinburgh office. Rival Edinburgh and Glasgow law firm Morton Fraser has managed to poach banking and finance partner Andrew Meakin, who has been with the firm since 1999 when he joined from Dundas & Wilson. Also leaving Maclay Murray & Spens is its highly respected head of equity finance Graeme Sloan. Sloan has been with Maclays for 15 years, but is leaving to join multinational law firm Latham & Watkins as the firm expands into the equity finance market. Speaking of the departures, Maclay Murray & Spens chief executive Magnus Swanson, said: “Graeme is off to on a different adventure and we wish him well. It’s something we can hardly make a fuss about because we make our own fair share of lateral hires. It’s a big world out there and we will be expanding our team in due course.”
