Crerar and McKenzie to handle GHA stock transfer

Harper Macleod LLP has been appointed by Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) to provide high-level strategic advice to GHA during the process of second stage transfer of its housing stock.
The appointment of key personnel within Harper Macleod, Professor Lorne Crerar, the firm’s Chairman and Senior Partner Rod McKenzie, was made following a competitive public procurement process. The two are charged with providing GHA’s Executive Team with strategic advice relating to legal aspects of business strategy and regulation and also to provide high-level advice on the second stage transfer programme, including the regulatory aspects of that programme.
The appointment follows Harper Macleod’s long-standing connection with the GHA housing transfer process, which extends over many years.
Rod McKenzie has in the past advised GHA in relation to employment law and corporate governance matters. Professor Crerar has taken a critical role in the GHA transfer process, being the final interface between the Scottish Executive and Communities Scotland. He was at the root of the philosophy of the template of not just the Glasgow transfer, but those other local authority transfers in Scotland.
Recently named ‘Law Firm of the Year’ at both the Law Awards of Scotland and Scottish Legal Awards 2006, Harper Macleod is also consistently rated in the top tier of leading Scottish social housing firms as graded by the UK Legal 500, and has acted in some of the biggest housing Large Scale Voluntary Transfers in Scotland.
Professor Crerar commented: “We are delighted to have been appointed by Glasgow Housing Association, which is a credit to our expertise and experience in the area. Our success in this procurement process further reinforces Harper Macleod’s position as one of Scotland’s leading players in the Public Sector and Housing field.”
