McGrigors has launched a new UK-wide practice team specialising in facilities management.
Facilities management, as a discipline, includes what are known as ‘soft’ services (cleaning, catering, laundry and security) and ‘hard’ services (building maintenance and lifecycle). These services are provided to offices, universities, hospitals and schools.
The new team will be lead by Victoria Miller, a director in the energy and infrastructure unit. Victoria specialises in PPP/PFI, outsourcing and facilities management and is a member of the British Institute of Facilities Management.
The setting up of the new team is marked by McGrigors’ presence at the forthcoming Infrastructure Investment in Scotland conference at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on 20 and 21 May.
The conference, which is sponsored by McGrigors, will be a platform for the Scottish Government to outline its plans for future investment and Victoria will also address the conference on managing operational facilities. Victoria said: “The team has been set up to meet client demand. The facilities management sector is valued at over £96 billion per annum and our team is renowned for providing pragmatic legal advice to this sector.”
She will be joined in the facilities management team by Sophie Black, Linsay Leslie and Shehzad Khalid. All are based in McGrigors’ Edinburgh office but have a UK-wide remit.
The team will be focussing on advising facilities management companies, employers, special purpose companies, and funders on facilities management issues, contracts and infrastructure projects. This advice will cover all sectors, including education, healthcare, roads and transport, leisure, hospitality, accommodation and regeneration.
