Shucksmith Report to debated at WS Crofting Conference

Professor Mark Shucksmith, chair of the Scottish Governments Committee of Inquiry on Crofting , will be the keynote speaker at a Crofting Conference in Inverness organised by the WS Society, to be held on 30th May.

Shucksmith's report was formally launched on 12th May and he will be providing initial feedback for the first time at the Inverness conference.

“We are returning to Inverness for the second year running for our Crofting Conference. This year the Shucksmith Report will be a major talking point and we are delighted that Professor Shucksmith will be participating. " said WS Society’s Chief Executive Robert Pirrie.

"The WS Society is committed to supporting lawyers and others with an interest in Scotland’s rural economy where the future of the crofting regime will have an important impact.”

Other issues to be considered at the conference include windfarming and practical implications of the Crofting Reform Act 2007.

On the 29th May the WS Society also hosts a half day conference, "The Scottish Property Market - Where Next?", which will be addressed by Morton Fraser's respected conveyancing specialist George Clark, and also Paul Guest of Jones Lang LaSalle and Craig Jackson of Tods Murray.
