WS Society director of Legal Support Services Helen Bowman was formally admitted as a full member of the Society herself, together with 12 new inductees to the Society at their bi-annual conferment ceremony, which took place at the Signet Library on Wednesday evening.
Former Judge of the European Court of Justice Professor The Right Honourable Sir David Edward, KCMG, QC, FRSE, was also admitted as an honorary fellow of the WS Society by the Keeper of the Signet, Lord Mackay of Clashfern.
The reception included guests from Scotland’s legal, government and business communities and was preceded by the traditional admissions ceremony. Guests included Heather McCracken of Gillespie MacAndrew, Richard Keen, Dean of the Faculty of Advocates, Maryam Labaki of the SYLA, and Sheriffs Taylor and Kearney, and Martha Rafferty of Anthony Mahon and Co. WS Chief Executive Robert Pirrie attended and presided as Master of Ceremonies.
The other new WS members are Ewart Baxter of HBOS, plc, Fiona Fleming of Blackwood and Smith WS, Miller McLean of RBS, Lynn Melville of Murray Donald Drummond Cook LLP, Jeremy Norman of Squire Sanders and Dempsey, William Pearson, also of RBS and Alec Stewart & Gavin Thain, both of Anderson Strathern.
Stephen Hart of Maclay Murray and Spens, Alison Graham of D& W and Jennifer Maciver of Lindsays gained affiliate and associate membership.
