PDSO has appointed a Polish paralegal to improve access to justice for Scotland's growing Polish population.
Milena Jeczelewska, who is fluent in English, will take up the new role of Criminal Paralegal.
This project is initially for six months to provide an efficient and effective first point of contact for Polish speakers seeking help from the Public Defence Solicitors Office, the Scottish Legal Aid Board and associated Part V projects including an out of hours telephone cover service for Polish-speaking enquiries. As a paralegal she will provide advice on procedure and substantive law to clients who are subject to criminal investigations or criminal proceedings.
Jeczelewska will also provide an interpreting and translating service for Polish speakers. She will be based in PDSO Edinburgh but will also travel to PDSO Glasgow, the other PDSO offices, the Board and associated Part V projects.
